Starting It up

Great products do not emerge from the ether: they are melted, smashed, carved, molded, talked, worried, and provoked into existence. Elysian Labs started with the idea that control of one’s environment shouldn’t be consolidated into a single device contained in the pocket, but distributed around the body; that gathering information shouldn’t mean staring at a smartphone screen, but rather making that information available on the very surface of one’s skin.

Yet an idea only becomes a product when a company finds the very best material substrate into which to embed that idea for specific users. Elysian Labs has been that journey, as we’ve explored the idea of systems control across over 40 generations of physical prototypes with a specific and high-impact group of individuals.
